The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Soldier’s Medal to Airman Third Class Roberto R. Domanski (AFSN: AF-18489453), United States Air Force, for heroism involving risk of life at Sacramento, California, on 1 January 1956. Noticing smoke coming from an upper window of an old frame house, Airman Domanski, in full knowledge of the highly flammable nature of the building, with total disregard for his own life, immediately entered the structure, alerted the occupants and assisted twenty-three of them to safety. Although nearly prostrated by smoke himself, Airman Domanski remained in the building until he was sure that all occupants had been evacuated. The exemplary courage and heroism displayed by Airman Domanski reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
