The President of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Navy and Marine Corps Medal to Sergeant Bradley Eugene Clark, United States Marine Corps, for heroism while serving with Company E, Second Battalion, First Marines, FIRST Marine Division (Rein.), FMF, Pacific, on 21 October 1977. While conducting basic mountain warfare skills training at the Marine Corps Mountain Warfare Training Center, Bridgeport, California, Sergeant Clark noticed a small boy attempting to cross the road from a bushy area where he was playing. Observing a military bush carrying a load of Marines advancing from the blind side of a curve in the road, Sergeant Clark, with complete disregard of the personal dangers involved, unhesitatingly leaped in front of the bus and carried the child to safety. By his courageous and swift actions in the face of great personal risk, Sergeant Clark undoubtedly saved the child from being killed or badly injured; thereby reflecting great credit upon himself and upholding the highest traditions of the Marine Corps and the United States Naval Service.
