The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Jerry Noel Hoblit (AFSN: 0-49879), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 Pilot near Viet Tri, North Vietnam on 18 January 1967. On that date, Captain Hoblit led a flight of four F-105 aircraft on a surface-to-air missile suppression mission. In the ensuing action, Captain Hoblit destroyed two missile guidance radars, suppressed two others and destroyed a missile site that was under construction. These outstanding achievements were only possible because of the daring tactics which he conceived under the strain of a missile and flak attack. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Hoblit reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
