The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross to Captain Jackson L. Hudson (AFSN: 0-78723), United States Air Force, for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as an A-1 Skyraider pilot in Southeast Asia on 4 July 1969. On that date, Captain Hudson participated in the rescue effort for an A-1 Skyraider pilot who was downed by hostile anti-aircraft fire. Despite intense, accurate, fire which twice struck his aircraft, Captain Hudson made repeated low passes in an attempt to repulse hostile forces. The professional competence, aerial skill, and devotion to duty displayed by Captain Hudson reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
