Under the provisions of Department of Defense 1348.33-M, the Secretary of Defense has awarded the Defense Superior Service Medal to Captain Joseph N. Anderson, United States Marine Corps, for exceptionally superior service as Military Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Manpower, Reserve Affairs, and Logistics, from January 1978 through December 1980. He has accepted all tasks with enthusiasm and performed all in an outstanding manner, dealing most effectively with those at all levels in the military, the government, and the private sector. Captain Anderson has been unflagging in his efforts to develop and produce accurate, lucid, and concise written communication for the Assistant Secretary, other senior Defense officials, and the Secretary of Defense. One of his most valuable contributions to the overall achievement of the Manpower, Reserve Affairs and Logistics mission is his ability to clarify and articulate at the highest management levels the needs and concerns of the men and women of the Armed Forces. The distinctive accomplishments of Captain Anderson culminate a distinguished career in the service of his country and reflect great credit upon himself, the United States Marine Corps, and the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
