(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Aviation Machinist’s Mate First Class Frank Anderson, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroism while serving at the U.S. Naval Air Station, Brooklyn, New York, on 2 February 1964. Upon hearing the cries for help of a man who was trapped on the second story of a three-story burning building together with his wife and young daughter, Aviation Machinist’s Mate First Class Anderson did with complete disregard for his own safety, knowing well that the building might collapse at any moment, enter under said building, obtain a ladder, and effected the rescue of the tree people. His courageous and prompt actions saved three people from death or at least serious burns. His actions were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
