    The Secretary of the Army of the United States of America takes pleasure in presenting the Army Commendation Medal with Combat “V” to Sergeant Neil A. Mulvaney, III, United States Army, for heroic actions during combat operations against Iraqi enemy forces while serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 3d Battalion, 502d Infantry Regiment, 2d Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) on 13 April 2001. Sergeant Mulvaney provided accurate suppressive fire which resulted in several soldiers’ lives being saved. His physical courage and self sacrifice is in keeping with the history of the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and the United States Army.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Executive Order 11046, 24 August 1962, takes pleasure in presenting the Bronze Star Medal with Combat “V” to Sergeant First Class Neil A. Mulvaney, III, United States Army, for heroic actions during Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, Afghanistan on 29 April 2008. Sergeant First Class Mulvaney’s decisive actions and disregard for his own personal safety helped save the lives of his fellow soldiers and an interpreter who were pinned down in a disabled vehicle during a complex ambush. Sergeant First Class Mulvaney’s actions reflect great credit upon himself, Task Force WARRIOR, Combined Joint Task Force-101, and the United States Central Command.
