Rohrssen (ASN: 32298521), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Headquarters, 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, in action in the vicinity of Brest, France, on 8 August 1944. When heavy enemy artillery fire inflicted more casualties than the medical aid men could treat immediately, Sergeant Rohrssen courageously left the comparative safety of his foxhole and braved the heavy fire to administer necessary first aid to several of his wounded comrades. His willingness to risk his life reflects high credit to himself and the military service.
