The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Technical Sergeant Anthony Reider (ASN: 34134302), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, in action in France, Belgium, Luxembourg and Germany during the period 28 July 1944 to 16 January 1945. As Platoon Sergeant, he has consistently proved his ability to lead men in combat. Acting as Platoon Leader, in some instances, he led his platoon successfully through hazardous missions, suffering only a minimum of casualties. His courageous leadership and sound judgment under fire reflect high credit to himself and the United States Army.
