The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to First Lieutenant (Armor) Arthur C. Fox (ASN: 0-379832), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 44th Armored Infantry Battalion, 6th Armored Division, in action in the vicinity of Tenteling, France, on 2 December 1944. The mission of the platoon he led was to obtain prisoners from firmly entrenched enemy positions. Four scouts were sent out and one was wounded about twenty yards from the trenches. Lieutenant Fox, under heavy enemy fire, crawled over two hundred yards to reach and drag away the injured men. He successfully completed his mission, returning with information of prime importance. His courage and devotion to duty reflect high credit upon himself and the military service.
