    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat “V” to Major Cecil B. Juanarena (AFSN: FR-42932), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 pilot over Southeast Asia on 18 February 1966. On that date, Major Juanarena led a flight of F-105 aircraft in a napalm and cannon attack against a friendly military installation that had been overrun by hostile forces. Major Juanarena’s accurate and devastating attack in an intense small arms fire environment resulted in the complete destruction of the facility and its petroleum storage area and its denial to hostile forces. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Major Juanarena reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Second Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat “V” to Major Cecil B. Juanarena (AFSN: FR-42932), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as an F-105 pilot near Phu Ly, North Vietnam on 17 April 1966. On that date, Major Juanarena was flight leader of the last of three flights to strike the vital Phu Ly railroad bridge near Hanoi, North Vietnam. Despite the marginal weather conditions and active target defenses, Major Juanarena made repeated passes to insure that his ordnance would be placed as to cause maximum damage to the bridge. When he led his flight from the target area the bridge had been rendered useless to hostile forces for the immediate future. The outstanding heroism and selfless devotion to duty displayed by Major Juanarena reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, July 2, 1926, takes pleasure in presenting a Second Bronze Oak Leaf Cluster in lieu of a Third Award of the Distinguished Flying Cross with Combat “V” to Major Cecil B. Juanarena (AFSN: FR-42932), United States Air Force, for heroism while participating in aerial flight as a combat aircrew member in Southeast Asia on 31 May 1966. On that date, while under intense and accurate fire from unfriendly forces, Major Juanarena demonstrated cool courage, undaunted determination, and superior skill in pressing home devastating air attacks against hostile positions. Persevering in the face of danger and death, he relentlessly and effectively aided in neutralizing the hostile forces. Major Juanarena displayed outstanding heroism and devotion to duty and reflected great credit upon himself and the United States Air Force.
