(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Captain (Air Corps) John B. Wright (ASN: 0-810978), United States Army Air Forces, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy in action as Pilot of a B-24 Heavy Bomber of the 717th Bombardment Squadron, 449th Bombardment Group, FIFTEENTH Air Force against enemy forces during a bombing mission on 13 October 1944, in the Mediterranean Theater of Operations. Captain Wright’s unquestionable valor in aerial combat is in keeping with the highest traditions of the military service and reflects great credit upon himself and the United States Army Air Forces.
