    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Private First Class Emanuel R. Silberberg (ASN: 32214355), United States Army, for conspicuous gallantry and intrepidity in action against the enemy while serving with Company A, 1st Battalion, 152d Infantry Regiment, 38th Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces at Mount Purro, Rizal, Luzon, Philippine Islands, on 9 June 1945. Private First Class Silberberg disposed of two enemy machine gun nests which were halting the advance of 40 of his comrades. He destroyed the second after he has been himself, mortally wounded. Private First Class Silberberg’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
