    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Private First Class William Siles Rush (ASN: 37618871), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Company B, 1st Battalion, 112th Infantry Regiment, 28th Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces near Ouren, Germany, on 16 December 1944. When his unit came under heavy enemy attack, Private First Class Rush stayed in the line, hurling grenades and firing his rifle. Although he was severely wounded, Private First Class Rush refused to leave his post and died there of his wounds. Private First Class Rush’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 28th Infantry Division, and the United States Army.
