(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to Staff Sergeant Robert Albert Prueher (ASN: 36201002), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with an Infantry Company of the 7th Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces north of Tanabaru, Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands, on 5 May 1945, at Okinawa, Ryukyu Islands. Staff Sergeant Prueher succeeded in bring much needed ammunition to the troops at the front, despite the rain of enemy bullets into the only possible path. He extinguished an enemy machine gun nest, which pinned down his troops, and destroyed an enemy mortar emplacement which was holding up an attack. He assumed command when all officers had become casualties, despite the fact that he had himself been seriously wounded. Staff Sergeant Prueher’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Staff Sergeant Robert Albert Prueher (ASN: 36201002), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States while serving as a Supply Sergeant with the 7th Infantry Division durin the battle of Attu in the Aleutian Islands, Territory of Alaska, in 1943. Staff Sergeant Prueher took over the duties of a wounded first sergeant in addition to his own and performed both in a superior manner. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Staff Sergeant Prueher and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Army.
