(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Lieutenant Robert Adair Parker, United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving as Executive Officer of the Reconnaissance Company, 644th Tank Destroyer Battalion (Separate), FIRST U.S. Army, in action against enemy forces near Krinkelt, Belgium, on 18 December, 1944. First Lieutenant Parker and his driver encountered a superior force of German Mark V Panthers in the vicinity of Krinkelt-Rocherath. Using a bazooka, First Lieutenant Parker destroyed one tank and disabled another. His actions were instrumental in the protection of his Regimental Headquarters. First Lieutenant Parker’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
