(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Second Lieutenant (Infantry) John Lee Mohl (ASN: 20929233), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company C, 1st Battalion, 163d Infantry Regiment, 41st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy near Yagomi, New Guinea, on January 25, 1944. During a combat patrol, Second Lieutenant Mohl wrestled one enemy soldier to the ground in hand-to-hand combat, and his group captured one and killed four more, returning with their prisoner who provided valuable information under questioning. The gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty demonstrated by Second Lieutenant Mohl, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
