(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Lieutenant Colonel (Cavalry) Warren A. Minton (ASN: 0-362251), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving as Commanding Officer of the 2d Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, in action against the enemy in Korea. Following an attack on heavily fortified Communist positions, Lieutenant Colonel Minton left his battalion observation post when the assault was being beaten back and took command of his frontal troops, leading them to a successful capture of the enemy position. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress, 20 July 1942, takes pleasure in presenting the Legion of Merit to Lieutenant Colonel (Cavalry) Warren A. Minton (ASN: 0-362251), United States Army, for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer of the 2d Battalion, 5th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, in action in Korea from 19 July 1951 to 6 December 1951. Lieutenant Colonel Minton immediately reorganized his attalion, which had lost many key personnel in previous actgions, into an effective fighting force with extremely high morale and an aggressive spirit. Even though operating under unfavorable conditions, he displayed outstanding qualities of leadership. Fearlessly and in keeping with the highest traditions of the Army, this officer repeatedly exposed himself to heavy enemy fire while in personal command of the forward elements of his battalion. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Colonel Minton and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Army.

    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross to First Lieutenant (Cavalry) Warren Arthur Minton (ASN: 0-362251), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Troop C, 1st Squadron, 26th Cavalry Regiment, Philippine Scouts, U.S. Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE), in action against enemy forces in the Philippine Islands, on 13 January 1942, in the Philippine Islands. First Lieutenant Minton participated with outstanding distinction in a daring raid on the enemy-held town of Tuguegarao which, with its adjacent airport, constituted a most important strategic stronghold to the invading Japanese. His dauntless courage and command ability, reflected in exceptional advantage, and success of attack, and resulted in the destruction of all enemy aircraft, the killing of 110 enemy soldiers, the scattering of 300 more, and complete neutralization of all radio and telephonic lines. His exceptional judgment and unfaltering devotion to duty contributed to the heroic defense of the Philippine Islands. First Lieutenant Minton’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
