    The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Captain (Medical Corps) Benjamin Bennett Kysor, Jr. (ASN: 0-400980), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving as a Medical Officer with the Medical Detachment at Fort Mills, Corregidor, U.S. Army Forces in the Far East (USAFFE), on Bataan, Philippine Islands, on 29 December 1941. Captain Kysor directed the evacuation of the wounded from the bombed area despite his own wounds and died before he reached an emergency hospital set up in a tunnel outside of Corregidor. His extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
