Howard Kimsey was the youngest of FIVE sons of the Kimsey Family that served in World War II. Thomas Kimsey served in the Navy, John Kimsey served in the Army Air Forces, and twins George and Charles served in the Army. George Kimsey earned two Silver Stars in World War II.

    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Sergeant Howard Leroy Kimsey (ASN: 17067034), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Company K, 3d Battalion, 218th Infantry Regiment, 32d Infantry Division, in action against enemy forces at Saidor, New Guinea, on 9 February 1944. Sergeant Kimsey’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty at the cost of his life, exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
