Navy Federal Credit Union

Charles Calhoun served in the Navy during World War II, was discharged after the war, and subsequently enlisted in the Coast Guard in 1946. He served in combat in with Coast Guard Squadron One aboard the U.S.C.G.C. POINT ORIENT during the Vietnam War. On August 27, 1969, he was appointed the FIRST Master Chief Petty Officer of the Coast Guard, serving until his retirement in 1973. When he was awarded the Legion of Merit upon retirement, he was only the second enlisted member of the Coast Guard to receive that award.
