Navy Federal Credit Union

Charles Shoemaker was appointed to the U.S. Naval Academy in 1858, but dropped out after two years and was appointed a Third Lieutenant in the Revenue Cutter Service in 1960. As a Captain, in 1895 he was appointed the second Chief, Division of Revenue Cutter Service and served in the billet until 1905. He was promoted to the rank of Captain-Commandant upon his retirement in 1908.
