(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pride in presenting the Distinguished Service Cross (Posthumously) to Corporal Grover Sheldon Jordan (ASN: 37267284), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Troop C, 1st Squadron, 12th Cavalry Regiment, 1st Cavalry Division, in action against enemy forces near Lombrum Point, Los Negros Island, Admiralty Group, on 8 March 1944. Corporal Jordan remained with a wounded comrade after his platoon had withdrawn from its position. He placed himself between an advancing enemy and the wounded man and repulsed three successive attacks. Corporal Jordan’s extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself, the 1st Cavalry Division, and the United States Army.
