Ingle (ASN: 19056604), United States Army, for extraordinary heroism in connection with military operations against an armed enemy while serving with Headquarters, 3d Battalion, 31st Infantry Regiment, Philippine Division, on 18 January 1942, during action against enemy forces in the defense of Bataan and while a prisoner of the Japanese during World War II. A radio operator with the 31st Infantry Regiment, Private Ingle became a prisoner at the fall of Bataan and survived the infamous death march which took a heavy toll amongst those who were forced into captivity on 8 April 1942. His extraordinary heroism, personal bravery and zealous devotion to duty exemplify the highest traditions of the military forces of the United States and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army.
