(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Aviation Machinist’s Mate First Class Herbert William Haffey, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroic conduct during a fire which occurred at Hangar No. 1 at John Rodgers Airport, Naval Air Facility, Honolulu, Territory of Hawaii, on 10 June 1947. Aviation Machinist’s Mate First Class Haffey aided in preventing loss of property and life by his initiative and conduct in fighting the fire.
