    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Chief Gunner’s Mate Joseph E. Caserio, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as a crew member of the U.S.S. SCULPIN (SS-191), during the FIRST, SECOND, and THIRD War Patrols of that Submarine against the Japanese in the Southwest Pacific, from 8 December 1941 to 28 April 1942. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
