(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Captain Robert Bentham Simons, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. RALEIGH (CL-7), in action against the Japanese at Pearl Harbor, Territory of Hawaii, on 7 December 1941. The singularly distinctive accomplishments of Captain Simons and his dedicated contributions in the service of his country reflect the highest credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
