(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Rear Admiral John C. Lester, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. FAYETTE (APA-43), in operations against the Japanese at Kwajalein, Guam, Peleliu and Leyte, from January 1944 to November 1944.
