Grant, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Atoll Commander of Majuro, Arno and Aur Atolls, and Island Commander and Commanding Officer Naval Air Station Majuro, from 6 February 1944 to 26 September 1944.
