Nuttall, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroic conduct in effecting the rescue of a patient being transferred by stretcher and trolley line from the U.S.S. McGOWAN to the U.S.S. TENNESSEE, while under way, on 15 May 1944.
