(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Aviation Chief Ordnanceman Roy D. Gipson, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroic conduct in removing the internal igniter from a gas-filled fire bomb which had fallen on the deck of the U.S.S. ANZIO (CVE-57), on 6 April 1945.
