Taylor, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commander Task Group 52.2, engaged in minesweeping operations in the waters of the Japanese Empire, from September 1945 to January 1946.
