Tiemroth, United States Navy, was awarded the Legion of Merit for exceptionally meritorious conduct in the performance of outstanding services to the Government of the United States as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. CHANDLER (DD-206) from 7 December 1941 to April 1942, and as Commanding Officer of the U.S.S. BALCH (DD-363) from April 1942 to September 1943, in the Pacific area.
