(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Torpedoman’s Mate First Class Robert L. Chester, United States Navy, was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal for heroic conduct in the rescue of a downed pilot stranded in enemy-held territory, while serving on the U.S.S. CHARR (SS-328), during the FIRST War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters, from 27 December 1944 to 3 March 1945.
