Riley, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Fighter Pilot in Fighting Squadron TWENTY-SIX (VF-26), embarked in U.S.S. SANTEE (CVE-29), over the Philippine Islands, on 22 and 26 October 1944.
