    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Richard K. Davis, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Officer of the Deck of the U.S.S. PETO (SS-265), during the SEVENTH War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy Japanese waters, from 23 October to 6 December 1944. Lieutenant Davis assisted his Commanding Officer and contributed materially to the sinking of enemy vessels totaling more than 27,000 tons and to the infliction of damage on an additional 3,000 tons of shipping, aiding greatly in the successful operation of his ship. His skill, courage and devotion to duty were in keeping with the highest traditions of the United States Naval Service.
