Kane, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Composite Squadron NINETY-ONE (VC-91), embarked in U.S.S. MAKIN ISLAND (CVE-93), over the Ryukyu Islands, from 26 March 1945 to 20 May 1945.
