Dennis, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Pilot in Bombing Squadron FOUR (VB-4), embarked in U.S.S. WHITE PLAINS (CVE-66), during the Battle for Leyte Gulf, on 25 October 1944.
