Joseph Prueher graduated from the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Class of 1964. During the Vietnam War he earned the Distinguished Flying Cross and ten Air Medals. From 1995 to 1996 he served as the 27th Vice Chief of Naval Operations. He served as United States Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China from 1999 to 2001.
