Lodate, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Plane Commander of a land-based plane in Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED EIGHTEEN (VPB-118), in action against the Japanese in Truk and Korea, on 28 April 1945, 7 May 1945, and 27 June 1945.
