(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Howard P. Rabenstein, United States Navy, was awarded a Gold Star in lieu of a Second Award of the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Commanding Officer of a Fire Support Unit in the Pacific Ocean Area, on 21 July 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
