Rippingler, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Commanding Officer of a Search Plane in Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED SIX (VPB-106), over the Borodino Islands, on 14 March 1945.
