Mulvihill, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Commanding Officer of a Liberator Bomber in Patrol Bombing Squadron ONE HUNDRED SEVENTEEN (VPB-117), over the Nansei Shoto Islands, on 14 October 1944.
