McMillan, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as a Fighter Pilot in Composite Squadron SIXTY-EIGHT (VC-68), embarked in U.S.S. FANSHAW BAY (CVE-70), during the Battle for Leyte Gulf, on 25 October 1944.
