Hackett, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Pilot of a Fighter Plane in Air Group THREE, embarked in U.S.S. YORKTOWN (CV-10), in the vicinity of the China coast, on 16 January 1945.
