McManus, United States Navy, was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross for extraordinary achievement while participating in aerial flight as Co-Pilot and Navigator of a BPY-5 plane, in action against enemy forces in the Bismarck Sea areas, from 31 December 1943 to 16 February 1944.
