(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade Carl C. Heidel, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in Action as Diving Officer aboard the U.S.S. SILVERSIDES (SS-236), during the TENTH War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters of the Pacific Ocean Area from 26 April 1944 to 11 June 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
