(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Commander William B. Wood, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Diving Officer aboard the U.S.S. SEA OWL (SS-405), during the FIRST War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters from 19 November 1944 to 15 January 1945. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
