    (Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant Fred A. Morris, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Damage Control Officer aboard the U.S.S. PLUNGER (SS-179), during the TENTH War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters from 13 January 1944 to 8 March 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
