(Citation Needed) – SYNOPSIS: Lieutenant, Junior Grade Joseph L. McGrievy, United States Navy, was awarded the Silver Star for gallantry in action as Chief of the Boat of the U.S.S. SEAHORSE (SS-304) during the SECOND War Patrol of that Submarine in enemy-controlled waters from 20 October 1943 to 12 December 1943. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Naval Service.
